Christmas at Galvin Green Man

Galvin Green Man on Howe Street, Essex offers private and semi-private dining spaces, each dressed for the season, for festive lunches, dinners and group celebrations throughout Christmas 2026.

Guests choose one dish per course from a set selection: starters include Jerusalem artichoke soup with trompette mushrooms, and Dingley Dell pork terrine with red onion & quince chutney; mains include Cornish wild seabass with salsify and beurre blanc, and a traditional ballotine of turkey with roast trimmings; desserts include Christmas pudding with brandy cream, and Green Man honey parfait with clementine sorbet. Most dishes are gluten free or can be made so. The menu is £49 per person Monday to Thursday (lunch and dinner), and £55 per person Friday and Saturday.

Yes. A Drinks & Canapé reception can be added, with one 125ml glass plus three canapés per person: Primi Soli Prosecco NV with the chef’s selection of canapés at £12.50pp, or NV Champagne Galvin “Grande Réserve” Brut with canapés at £19.50pp.

Galvin Green Man has four private dining rooms on the first floor, accommodating groups of 8–14 guests (reached via 12 steps with handrails; no lift access). For slightly larger or more accessible groups, the semi-private Communal Room seats 9–18 guests on the pub side. Larger celebrations of 14–18 can be accommodated in the Communal Room Tuesday to Saturday (maximum table size on Sundays is 14 in private dining). For anything bigger still, exclusive hire of the restaurant or pub is available, subject to a minimum spend agreed directly with the venue.

The four upstairs private dining rooms are not wheelchair accessible. The Communal Room is more accessible, with just one step between it and the main pub, though it isn’t fully wheelchair accessible either. The main bar and restaurant are wheelchair accessible via the main entrance, with accessible toilets and baby changing facilities available.

Yes. A five-course Christmas Day menu is served at £190 per person, opening with canapés — including a smoked salmon, cream cheese & dill roulade with caviar — followed by a choice of starters such as hand-dived scallop or duck liver parfait, mains including roast bronze turkey with pigs in blankets or aged Scottish beef fillet, a mandarin sorbet pre-dessert, and a choice of Christmas pudding, dark chocolate mousse or a cheese selection to finish, with coffee and warm mince pies to close. A children’s Christmas Day menu (4 courses) is available at £65 per person.

Yes. The Boxing Day menu is £75 per person, with a choice of starters such as Jerusalem artichoke soup or ricotta gnocchi, mains including roast bronze turkey, roast aged sirloin of beef, or a celeriac & beetroot pithivier, and desserts such as Christmas pudding or Green Man honey parfait. A children’s Boxing Day menu is available at £35 per person.

Yes. Breakfast with Santa runs on 19th and 21st December 2026, with bookings from 9am to 10am and entertainment at 11am, at £30 per person. Adults can choose from American pancakes, a full Green Man breakfast, or a veggie option, while the kids’ menu includes American pancakes or a mini Green Man breakfast, plus a gift from Santa. All dishes include tea, coffee and juice.
