What is the closest station?
Chelmsford train station (but is not within walking distance). Taxi (before 11pm costs average £17.2 to the station) or there is a bus stop opposite that stops once an hour. Last bus service being 22:43.

Is there parking?
Yes, We have a large carpark but on peek days (Saturday & Sunday) we recommend leaving time to park. Off road parking on the kerb is allowed but cars are left at there own risk (We just kindly ask guests to ensure the pathway is not blocked for pedestrians)

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
The bar & restaurant are wheelchair accessible using our main entrance. Our Pub is accessible using our pub main entrance and ramp.
To access the restrooms from the pub – the easiest route is vacating the pub through the front and travel round & in the front door. (The pub is up 2 steps from the main bar & restaurant entrance)

Are there accessible toilets?
Yes, we have accessible toilets.

Is there accessible parking available?
Yes, we have two designated and clearing stated parking spaces in front of the main doors

Is there baby changing facilities?
Yes, within our accessible toilets

Do you have a dress code?
Our dress code is smart casual.

Do you have an area for pre dinner drinks?
We do have a few seats available up at the bar, or 2x sofas in reception area. Alternatively, if the pub has space you can seat in there and receive table service as is available on a 1st come 1st served basis.
Garden is also available for drinks on a 1st come 1st serve basis (all year round) along with the Terrace in winter months (September – April).

Can I BYO wine or Champagne?
Guests are welcome to bring up to two bottles of their own wine or Champagne. There is a corkage charge of £30 per bottle.

Can I come for drinks only?
Reservations are for dining guests only, if you wish to join us for drinks, you are welcome to do so on a walk-in basis in our Pub, bar & Garden (&terrace in winter months)

Birthdays and Celebrations

Can I bring a celebration cake?
You can bring your own cake if you wish & there will be a charge of £4 per person.

If I don’t bring a cake can you do something special?
We will present a Valrhona chocolate ‘celebration specific’ plaque on there chosen dessert.
Birthdays, Anniversary & congratulations plaques available – Please ensure a booking tag or note is listed on the reservation along with a name of the congratulation guest for the teams reference.

Can I pre- order a cake from you?
Currently we do not offer this service.

Are children welcome?
Children of all ages are welcome. (Although Saturday evenings past 7pm in the main restaurant is very rare to see children)

Do you have highchairs?
We do have highchairs available, when you make a reservation, please request a highchair with the team. Please note on busy days we may not be able to accommodate all requests. We currently have 8 available in storage

Is there a children’s menu?
We offer a little appetites menu and a bigger appetites Menu Tuesday –Saturday.
Sundays we offer 1 children’s menu for up to 12 years old.

Do you allow dogs?
We do allow dogs in our pub, bar area & all outside areas.
Dogs are not permitted in the main restaurant or within our 4 private dining rooms on the first floor.

What style of food do you serve?
Classic British / French

When is the set menu available?
Bib Gourmand menu – Michelins ‘good quality, good value’ menu
Lunch: Tuesday – Saturday 12-2
Dinner: Tuesday & Thursday 6-8pm / Friday & Saturday 5:30-6:30pm only)

How much is the set menu & what are the T&C’s?
3 courses £30 available for groups of up to 6pax (Not available in private dining)
-Set menu vouchers only valid on this menu during these times

Can you cater for vegans and vegetarians?
Yes, we always have at least 1 vegetarian options on our menu, along with 2 dishes that can be made vegan.

Do you offer private dining?

We do offer private dining. We have 4 private dining rooms on the first floor (up 12 steps with hand rails either side/Private bathrooms also situated upstairs) (We do not have a lift to access)
These range for parties of 9-14 Thursday/Saturday Lunch & Thursday Evening only. Friday/Saturday evening & Sunday all day these are available 7-14 guests due to maximum table sizes in the main restaurant on these day/times being 6pax.
If guests wish for a private dining room when wanting less than the required guests on the above days then they can have with a minimum spend agreement of £450 excluding a discretionary service charge

Do you have private dining for wheelchair accessible guests?
We have a semi private dining area called our ‘Communal room’ on the pub side which can accommodate parties 9-20. This space is also dog friendly. Room has 1 step from the main pub so is not wheelchair accessible but when explained most guests are happy to go for knowing the access.

Can I organise to see the private dining rooms (Show-around)?
Yes, but no show-arounds are to be scheduled after 5pm Friday, Or anytime after 11:30am Saturday or Sunday due to busy schedules & being occupied. All show-arounds to be booked in with reception/managers to ensure someone is available.

What is a chef selection menu? & When does it apply?
A chef selection menu is selected on the day using seasonal local fresh ingredients. Being a fresh food kitchen it is difficult to know what this menu may be in advance but will offer you and your party 3 starters, 3 mains & 3 desserts from our A la Carte menu. (On a Sunday guests are required to chose either the Roast beef or Roast chicken as part of there 3 mains & will be contacted 1-2 weeks prior to reservation date for decision)
A chef selection menu is for any party that has more than 8 adults within there final numbers.

Cancellation policy / No show policy

A cancellation fee of £20 per person will be applied should a reservation be cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, of if the guests do not show up.

Large parties of more than 20 guests?
This will be required to be an exclusive hire of the restaurant seated or pub communal standing. A minimum spend will need to be agreed & a deposit of 50% of this amount is required to secure the space. All enquiries to be sent to Katie@galvinpubco.com

Do you take provisional bookings?
No we do not. All bookings are required to be secured by credit card details or a deposit (depending on booking size) by the end of the day they booked.
-Reservation team is always required to send the link (requesting cc details or for deposit) following the booking call so re-checking the guest email address is vital

Will I receive a confirmation call?
48hours/24hours prior to the reservation if credit card details have not yet been supplied.
(Reservations SOP is to change status on bookings to confirmed on receipt of cc details being received via email)

How long do I have on my table?
Restaurant/Terrace – 2 hours.
Private dining – 3 hours.

Howe street discount card. When is it available to be used?
Tuesday – Friday for up to 6 guest (Not available weekends)

Do you have a local’s night?
Every 1st Friday of the month – Howe street & Great Waltham locals all gather in the pub – This event is not organised by us but does on occasion take up to whole pub with up to 40 guests attending so do not recommend pre-dinner drinks to diners in this area on this night of the month

Do you have a pub Quiz?
Yes, every 2nd Wednesday of the month. Bookings advised via webpage.

Do you have Live entertainment:
Yes, every last Friday of the month in our pub & on Bank Holiday Mondays from 12:30 in the garden (weather permitting)

Vouchers

Galvin Green Man only accept Gift Pro vouchers. Virgin/Buyagift/Red letter day etc vouchers are not available at this location.
